Music at LMC

Meet our New Music Director

Lyle Harlow, our new Choir Master Organist comes to us
from Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Skokie, where he
served as organist from 2009 to the present.

Lyle HarlowPrior to working at Holy Trinity, he was the Director of Music and the Arts for Wicker Park Lutheran Church in Chicago, and is well versed in the challenges that growing parishes
face.

A graduate of the College of William and Mary and the University of New Mexico, he has also successfully
completed the Leadership Program for Musicians, a joint program of the Lutheran and Episcopal Churches, where he studied with LMC’s former organist, Barbara Bleck.

A life-long Lutheran, Lyle started playing at the age of
11 for his small country church, St. Paul Lutheran, in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and has also served Presbyterian, United Methodist and Baptist congregations through the years. A ten-year veteran of the Institute of Liturgical Studies at Valparaiso University, he is a “liturgy junkie,” and is committed to making Sunday morning worship at LMC even better than it already is.

As his background includes many denominations, he is looking forward to bringing the best music that each has to offer to share with the LMC community, along with music from every corner of the globe.

A long-time resident of the Wicker Park neighborhood, he can often be found gardening, cooking and entertaining at his cottage in Wicker Park’s historic district.

In addition to his work as a church musician, Lyle is a real estate broker at Koenig & Strey Real living and sings with Chicago’s well-known Wicker Park Choral Singers. He also manages to find time for a long list of interests including mountain biking, golf, tennis and volleyball.
